2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid: Specs, Release Date

One of the long lasting vehicles on the road is ready to hit the world’s market as the 2018 model year. It is the Japanese’s iconic off-roader known as Toyota Land Cruiser. This model has undergone a major redesign in 2016. So for this time, we assume that the Toyota will appear pretty much unchanged. However, lately there are many speculations about a hybrid version of the Land Cruiser since the Japanese car maker is working on expanding its lineup with more hybrid models for quite some time. So, if everything goes according to the plan, you should expect to see the long-awaited 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid.

The brand’s one of the most expensive sport utility vehicles stands above the larger Sequoia and it is one of the best off-roaders in the market. It provides an excellent ride quality and it is very capable on any type of surface. The Land Cruiser is based on a body-on-frame architecture unlike the most of the vehicles in its segment. It offers great interior space and it is able to accommodate up to eight passengers. Like we have previously mentioned, the 2018 Toyota will probably remain the same, except the hybrid version; and for a new generation model, you will have to wait for the year of 2020.

2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid powertrain

The current Toyota uses a powerful 5.7-liter V-8 unit under its hood. It has the output of 381 horses and 401 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic and the power is sent to all wheels.

Furthermore, according to the rumors the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid should use the traditional engine, perhaps the same V-8, combined with an electric motor. However, the performance and any precise information about the hybrid model are still unavailable. So, we should wait for the Company’s official announcement. What we can say for sure, is that the hybrid version will definitively show much improved fuel economy which is the Land Cruiser’s main flaw.

Design of exterior and interior

The exterior design of the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid will be attractive, handsome and one of a kind. This large SUV will continue with the 2016 model year design featuring almost perfectly sculpted body looking from every angle. The front fascia is dominated by nicely designed chrome grille and a pair of large LED headlamps.
