The 2018 Volvo XC90 T8 Plug-In Hybrid packs the same 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engines as the T6 but also has the rear axle-mounted electric motor. In this application, the four-cylinder engine produces 313 hp and torque of 295 lb-ft. The electric motor can provide 87 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. The part of the system is also an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels. The battery with the 9.2-kWh capacity takes the position in the tunnel between the front seats. The Inscription version features unique wheels, upgraded upholstery, ventilated front seats, etc. The Excellence has two captain’s chairs at the rear.
