The current Ford Fusion Hybrid is now present on the market for six years, and despite the fact that it is generally a very good vehicle, the Company is going to improve it for the 2018 model year. So, besides attractive look, stylish interior, the 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid offers more safety systems and slightly improved fuel efficiency.
The Fusion Hybrid has been mildly revised last year so this time we won’t see many changes. The hybrid model will continue to be available in several trims. Those are the base S, SE, premium Titanium and Platinum trim levels. The plug-in hybrid version will be available in SE, Titanium and Platinum trims. The upcoming Fusion will feature sleek and good-looking body, cozy and quality cabin and advanced safety features. So, if you’re in a market for alternative to a classic mid size sedan which is in the same time eco-friendly, then you should check out the new Ford. Its main competitors on the market will be hybrid versions of Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Chevy Malibu and Toyota Camry.
2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid engine and performance
Under the hood of the 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid, we will see the same unit which powers the current model. It is a 2.0-liter inline-4 gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery which is placed in the trunk. This unit will have the output of 188 horse and the torque of 129 pound-feet. It will come standard with a continuously variable transmission. The front-wheel drive configuration will be standard as always too. As for the fuel efficiency, the new Fusion is rated at 43 mpg in the city, 41 mpg on the highway and 42 mpg combined. So, we can only conclude that the Ford Fusion will be the least efficient mid size sedan among its competitors.
The plug in hybrid version will use the same 2.0-liter inline-4 in combination with AC synchronous motor which will be able to develop 195 horses and 129 pound-feet of torque. This model will have the range of 21 miles in electric-only driving.
Design of exterior and interior
When it comes to the exterior, the new 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid will keep the recognizable ”racy” body shape which we find attractive and still good-looking. The last year’s model has received wider grille and LED headlamps so this time we won’t see any significant upgrades. However, the new Fusion will get a new exterior color- Blue Metallic shade.
Speaking of the interior, the 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid will feature quality, comfortable and well-equipped cabin. Its design will be a combination of two-tone materials which will be soft and quality. All the seats are comfortable and supportive; they will be upholstered in synthetic fabric. However, the leather upholstery will be available too. Furthermore, as for the safety, this model has always been one of the best rated sedans. Last year, a rearview camera became the standard equipment. As well, it will be provided with anti-lock brakes, eight airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability and so on. However, lane keeping assist, pre-collision assist, auto high beams will be optional.
