2018 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell: Review, Specs, Price

The Hyundai’s first fuel cell SUV developed for masses will once again hit the market as the 2018 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell model. The upcoming 2018 Hyundai will represent the second generation of this model and this time it should appear with much improved fuel cell range.

The first generation of this model firstly appeared back in 2014. It was the first fuel cell vehicle available in the United States. How, when we compared it to its rivals such as Tesla Model X, the current version isn’t that competitive anymore and it is a bit expensive. So, the car maker has decided to improve it. The Hyundai Fuel Cell Concept has recently been revealed at the Geneva Auto Show where we were able to see what novelties the future Hyundai will bring. Its range will be improved for around 30 percent which makes it better than its main rival such as the Toyota Mirai with the range of 312 miles and slightly lower than the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell which has a range 366 of miles. Furthermore, the new Tucson Fuel Cell should be less expensive than before too.

Speaking of the engine, the new 2018 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell uses a hydrogen powertrain as the source of power. Company promises that it is going to be lighter than the previous one for around 20 percent, 10 percent efficient and more powerful. The 2018 version should appear with much improved range for 30 percent. The current model has the range of 265 miles while the 2018 Hyundai will come with the range of 348 miles. The total output of this powertrain will be 161 horses which means 27 hp more than the first generation model.

Design of exterior and interior

The brand new 2018 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell exterior design is going to be more futuristic and modern. The front end will feature the interesting design of the grille and a pair of slim headlamps. On the rear end, we will notice the new design of the tail lamps.

When it comes to interior design, the new 2018 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell will be sufficiently spacious to accommodate five passengers. It will offer plenty of space for all the occupants to drive comfortably and their luggage. Of course, if you need more cargo space, you can fold down the rear seats. The seats will be upholstered in leather and will be very comfortable. Furthermore, the new Tuscon will appear with higher position of the driver’s seat which will provide better visibility. The cabin will be very quiet because of the silent motor. As well, we can expect many modern infotainment features. Speaking of the safety, the Hyundai Fuel Cell will include airbags, electronic stability control, brake assist, traction control, anti-lock braking system and so on.

Release date and price

The 2018 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell should appear in early 2018. As for the pricing, it should be around $50,000.
