The Nissan car maker has presented the upgraded 2018 Nissan Leaf model this September. However, they have also confirmed the production of the all new 2019 Nissan Leaf Nismo. The Nismo will represent the sportier version of the standard Leaf model and will bring various improvements.
What we know so far is that the car maker is planning to present its upcoming Nissan Nismo at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show this month. This emission-free hatchback will appear with many interesting upgrades. First of all, it will receive a new sportier exterior design. As well, the Nismo will appear with a larger battery pack and its range is expected to be much improved too. The latest news says that it will have a range of even 225 miles making it direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3 and Chevrolet Bolt. The interior should also get a few refreshments.
2019 Nissan Leaf Nismo engine and performance
The standard version of the Nissan Leaf is powered with an electric motor and a battery pack of 40 kWh. This powertrain provides the range of 150 miles. And it is able to develop 147 horses and 236 pound-feet of torque. However, the upcoming 2019 Nissan Leaf Nismo will get a stronger battery. It will be the one of 60 kWh. So, with the larger battery, the new Nismo should offer the range of even 225 miles perhaps and more. As well, it is expected to be quicker than the standard Leaf model.
Design of exterior and interior
When it comes to the exterior design, the new 2019 Nissan Leaf Nismo will feature sportier appearance from the standard version and brand’s familiar red accents and black inserts. As well, it is going to look more aggressive. The whole body will be more aerodynamic and lower. The front end will receive more massive and beefier bumper and horizontal LED headlights which will look a bit menacing. On the rear fascia, we will notice redesigned bumper with red details, diffuser which will look more aggressive and spoiler which will improve aerodynamics of the vehicle too. Furthermore, the new Nissan Leaf Nismo will ride on the larger wheel and tires.
Speaking of the interior, we assume that the 2019 Nissan Leaf Nismo will feature the similar design of the cabin as the standard model. Naturally, it will feature some unique details such as red accents on the air vents, doors and contrasting red stitching on the seats. Generally, the whole cabin will look elegant, modern and will be very well equipped. The dashboard could also get the same 7.0-inch touchscreen with infotainment system as in standard Leaf. As for the equipment, it will probably be available with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, Bluetooth, Nissan ProPilot assist, blind spot warning, Bose premium audio system and so on.
Release date and price
The 2019 Nissan Leaf Nismo should make its premiere at the upcoming 2017 Tokio Motor Show. However, we still have an information when exactly will go on sale. As for the price, unfortunately, there is no any data too. We can assume that it should be slightly higher than the price of the standard model.
