If you want to go electric but also the maneuverable, quick and affordable vehicle that in the same time will stand out from the crowd, Fiat’s all-electric, tiny hatch should be on your consideration list. The model stands out with cute and unique Italian styling but is also fun to drive. The handling is precise and it can be recharged quickly. Of course, there are drawbacks, like small cargo capacity, small rear seat and the styling that you can like or hate. What is sure, you won’t have problems parking and you will love model’s zippy performance in crowded cities.
Speaking of the 2018 Fiat 500E and its upgrades, it seems that model won’t bring substantial changes in its styling and performance. Fiat sells this model in limited numbers and has higher priorities. The more practical 2018 500L brings 40 percent new components while the 500E could offer upgraded infotainment system and some equipment updates.
2018 Fiat 500E: Design
Styling-wise, the 2018 Fiat 500E isn’t expected to differ from the current version and it is also almost identical to the conventionally powered version. What distinguishes combustion engine version from the electric model are different bumpers, pronounced door sills and unique trim details. You can also get this model in contrasting body color patterns. Unique 15-inch alloys will also add to its unique identity.
Inside, the 500E is pretty much identical to the conventional version as well. Additional information is added to model’s display and unique trims accents also make the distinction.
Fiat is expected to offer this model in the single trim again. A few options should be available, as it is the case with the current version. The model will include vinyl upholstery, heated side mirrors, power functionalities, automatic climate, leather-wrapped steering wheel, etc. The model will also come with the rear parking sensors, cruise control, Alpine audio system, navigation, and probably upgraded infotainment system with the smartphone functionalities.
2018 Fiat 500E: Powertrain
There are no indications that Fiat will upgrade the powertrain of the 2018 Fiat 500E. The model will likely rely on the same power hardware which should soon be upgraded in order to stay close to the competitors.
The 500E uses the 83-kW electric motor to power the front wheels. This motor produces 111 hp and torque of 147 lb-ft. Providing the power for the motor is a 24-kWh lithium-ion battery. The EPA scores for the current version is 84 miles on the combined cycle.
As for the recharging time, it needs less than 4 hours to be fully recharged with the Level 2 charger (240 Volt).
2018 Fiat 500E: Arrival, Price
Fiat hasn’t revealed details about the 2018 Fiat 500E yet. The model should arrive in early 2018. There should not be changes in its price. The current version is available for $33k.
