2018 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid: Release Date, Review, Price

The 2018 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid will appear without any changes compared to the current 2017 model. The MKZ features attractive exterior design, strong both traditional and hybrid engines and modern technology. So, for the 2018 model year there was no need for anything to change this time since it is still fresh and competitive.

This compact luxury sedan offers premium safety features, quiet and cozy cabin and excellent fuel efficiency. As to say, the MKZ hybrid represents the one of the most fuel economical vehicles in the brand’s lineup. It is even more efficient than the Lexus ES 300h model. Furthermore, although it is a relatively large sedan, the space for the rear passengers is a bit tight because of the sloping roof. As well, what costumers might not like also, is its slow acceleration.

The main rivals of the new MKZ Hybrid will be Lexus ES 300h, Ford Fusion Hybrid, Honda Accord Hybrid, Chevy Malibu Hybrid and Kia Optima Hybrid.

2018 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid engine and performance

The 2018 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid will be powered with a hybrid powertrain which also powers the Ford Fusion model. It will be a combination of a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. This unit will be able to develop 188 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain will pair to a continuously variable transmission. The front-wheel drive configuration will be standard for this engine. The MKZ hybrid will be able to hit 60 mpg in 8.7 seconds. As for the fuel efficiency, it gets 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

On the other hand, the standard MKZ will arrive with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine which will have the output of 245 hp and 275 pound-feet of torque. As well, there will also be 3.0-liter V-6 twin-turbo unit which will make 350-400 horses and the torque of 400 pound-feet.  It will be available with all-wheel drive system too.

Design of exterior and interior

Speaking of the exterior, the 2018 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid will feature the same design as the standard model. Like we have mentioned before, there won’t be any changes this time; it has been restyled a few years ago when it has gotten a new look of the front fascia including new rectangular grille.

2018 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid cabin

Inside, the 2018 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is relatively spacious and comfortable. The seats are generally cozy but a bit firm. The front passengers will have plenty of head and leg room while the rear occupants might feel a bit tight.  The cargo space is solid, and if you need an extra space, the second row can fold down.

As for the equipment, it comes standard with dual zone automatic climate control, Sirius XM AM/FM Satellite radio, remote keyless entry, soft touch leatherette upholstery etc. As for the safety, it includes parking assist, ABS, traction control, collision monitoring system and so on.

Release date and price

It is still not officially confirmed when the 2018 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid will go on sale. When it comes to pricing, we assume that it should start at around $36,000.
