Like all the leading car companies, the Mercedes-Benz manufacturer is planning to reveal at least 10 electric cars in near future, precisely by the year of 2022. So, at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show the car maker has revealed the new and first member of the EQ EV lineup: the Mercedes-Benz EQA Concept. The EQA model is a luxury compact hatchback which will bring innovations in every segment. It is going to share some design cues with the A-Class model, but it will definitively receive a unique design which could open a new era in design technologies.
Although this is just a concept model we almost sure that it will go into the production. This all-electric hatchback will have a range of around 250 miles which is great. And with its very attractive and distinctive looks, the future Mercedes will definitively attract many costumers all over the world. Its production is set in Bremen, Germany sometime during 2019. Its main rivals will be Chevy Bolt EV and Tesla Model 3.
Mercedes-Benz EQA Concept powertrain and performance
The Mercedes-Benz EQA Concept is an all-electric vehicle. It is powered with two electric motors; one placed on the front axle while other on the rear. This powertrain is able to generate 268 horsepower and the torque of 368 pound-feet. The engine will pair with lithium-ion batteries among which the largest will have the capacity of over 60 kWh. The new Mercedes will have a range of around 248 miles on a single charge. It will be able to hit 60 mph in around 5 seconds. The all-wheel drive system will be standard. With the fast charger and 10 minutes of charging, the battery will have a range of 62 miles.
Design of exterior and interior
The new Mercedes-Benz EQA Concept is 168.7 long, 56.2 inches tall, 71.3 inches wide and sits on the 107.7 inch wheelbase. When it comes to exterior design, the new Mercedes looks absolutely stunning. It is futuristic, modern and very handsome. The front is the most pronounced part of the body because it doesn’t feature a traditional grille. Instead, it has a black panel display which can change graphics depending on a drive mode and gives it three dimensional look. For example, in Sport drive mode, it shows “flaming” blue wing while in Sport Plus mode, it has a red Panamericana grille. The headlamps integrate with the grille and they use laser LED technology with fiber-optic cable instead of diodes. The rear taillights also feature the same laser fiber technology. As well, there will be LED strips around rear bumpers and some parts of the side too.
Furthermore, the whole body is perfectly proportioned so it provides excellent dynamics. It will also feature the black panoramic glass roof and it will ride on 20-inch wheels.
As for the interior of the Mercedes-Benz EQA Concept, unfortunately, the car maker hasn’t revealed any details so far. However, based on the exterior design, we cannot expect any less inside the cabin.
Release date and price
The Mercedes-Benz EQA Concept has just been presented worldwide, while it should go into production sometime in 2019. As for the price, there is still no any information.
