2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid: Review, Price, Specs

For the 2017 model year, the Cadillac car maker has expanded its CT6 lineup with the first-ever hybrid version. This luxury sedan has shown good fuel efficiency and gained attention worldwide. So, this time, the Cadillac will give it a few upgrades and we are about to see the new 2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid.

Since the exterior design has been upgraded in 2016 and it is still relatively fresh, there was no need for anything major this time. However, the new Cadillac will arrive with a new exterior paint color. On the other hand, most of the expected changes this time will be related to technology. So, those will include upgraded infotainment system and the optional automatic park assist. As well, we could also see some minor changes inside the cabin.

The main competitors of the new CT6 Plug-in Hybrid will be BMW 740e, Mercedes-Benz S550e and Porsche Panamera 4 e-Hybrid.

When it comes to the engine, the 2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid will use the same powertrain as the outgoing model. It will be a combination of a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine and two electric motors with the output of 120 horses. The engine will pair with a lithium-ion battery of 18.4 kWh and an electric variable transmission. The total output of this unit will be 335 horsepower and 432 pound-feet of torque. It will be able to hit 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. As for the efficiency, it gets 62 MPGe combined and its all-electric range will be 31 miles.

Exterior and interior design

The 2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid will keep the same design of the current model. It looks elegant, sophisticated and very attractive. The front end features the brand’s well known grille design and a pair of vertical LED headlamps. The rear end also has vertical taillights and integrated spoiler. What will be new for the 2018 model year is the new color shade for the exterior. So, the upcoming Cadillac will be available in six shades. Those are Chrystal White Tricoat, Moonstone Metallic, Stellar Black Metallic, Bronze Dune Metallic, Deep Amethyst Metallic and the new Cocoa Bronze Metallic.

The interior of the 2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid is spacious, comfortable and very modern. The cabin is able to welcome four passengers. The seats are very cozy and upholstered in premium leather. It is available in three colors: light platinum, black and cinnamon with black accents. All the seats are heated and ventilated as well. The dashboard features 10.2-inch touchscreen with latest infotainment system which include Teen Driver and CUE Collection.

As for the equipment, the new Cadillac will come with premium Bose sound system with 10 speakers, active noise cancellation, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, Wi-Fi hotspot, USB ports and so on. As well, the Rear seat infotainment package will be standard too. Speaking of the safety, it will be provided with forward collision warning, a surround view camera, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning etc.

Release date and price

There is still no information when the 2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid will see the light of the day. We assume that it might be sometime during 2018. As for the pricing, we expect it to be slightly higher than the price of the current model.
