Besides the standard version of the Q5 model, the German manufacturer has revealed a hybrid model as well. The upcoming 2018 Audi Q5 Hybrid will combine great power, latest technology and handsome styling. It has been caught during its testing in the United States and as the 2018 model year, it won’t differ much from the current model. It will be slightly refreshed inside and out, and will feature the same modern tech systems as before. The safety will be in the top of the class as expected from Audi car maker.
The future Audi Q5 will be offered in several trim levels. Those will be Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. Mercedes GLC-Class, Jaguar F-Pace and BMW X3 will be its key competitors on the market.
2018 Audi Q5 Hybrid engine and performance
The standard Q5 will be powered with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. This unit will be able to make 252 hp and the torque of 272 pound-feet. It will pair with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the all-wheel drive system will be standard.
Naturally, the upcoming 2018 Audi Q5 Hybrid will get a hybrid powertrain under its hood. So, this unit will combine the same 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with 188 hp and an electric motor . This electric motor will add an extra 108 horses and 221 pound-feet of torque. A lithium-ion battery will be placed on the floor in the rear and will offer an all-electric range of around 31 miles. Moreover, the seven-speed automatic gearbox will be standard as well.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2018 Audi Q5 Hybrid uses the same architecture of the A4 and A5 models. However, the Q5 is slightly larger, for about an inch. As for the exterior design, the new Q5 Hybrid will most likely feature the same design as the standard model which comes mostly unchanged this time.
The front end is dominated by the brand’s well known large grille and square and sharper headlamps. All the lights will be offered with LED lighting. Furthermore, the rear end is nicely sculpted and features sporty bumper and nicely designed taillights. The upcoming Audi’s SUV will ride on the 18-inch 5-double spoke wheels with all-season tires.
The interior of the 2018 Audi Q5 Hybrid is well-done with premium materials, modern technology and simple design. The seats are cozy, supportive and upholstered in leather. The dashboard will feature a 7.0-inch color touchscreen while the higher trims will also offer a larger 8.3-inch display and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
When it comes to equipment, the standard features will include Android Auto and Apple CaPlay connectivity, a rearview camera, automated emergency braking, Bluetooth, HD radio, 10-speaker audio system and many other more. Moving to the Premium Plus, there will also be keyless start, heated front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof and so on. The top trim Prestige will add MMI navigation system, Bang & Olufsen sound system with 19 speakers, parking system, top view camera etc.
Release date and price
The 2018 Audi Q5 Hybrid should arrive in the end of this year. As for the price, it is expected to be around $48,000.
