The Mitsubishi car maker will soon present the one of its most affordable plug-in hybrid models- the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. As the matter of fact, this brand’s SUV is generally the cheapest PHEV crossovers worldwide. As well, it is one of the best-selling PHEV vehicles in Europe and now it is set to be launched in the United States this December.
The upcoming Mitsubishi hybrid will hit the marker with very pleasant and quality interior, good handling, affordable price and handsome exterior styling. Under the hood, it will feature a strong PHEV unit which will offer two driving modes: hybrid and all-electric. As well, it will be very well-equipped with many modern features. The new Mitsubishi will be available in two trims. Those are: the Outlander PHEV SEL and Outlander GT which will offer more features. Its key rivals on the market will be Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, BMW X5 xDrive40e and Subaru Forester.
2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV engine and performance
The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will be powered with a plug-in hybrid engine. It will be a combination of a traditional 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine and two 60 kWh electric motors which have the output of 80 horses. These motors will send power to rear wheels and will be placed one on the front and second on the rear axle. There will also be a lithium-ion battery of 12 kWh. The total output of this unit will be 197 horses and 186 pound-feet of torque. The all-electric range will be around 30 miles and more. As for the efficiency, it gets at least 56 MPGe. When it comes to interior, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will be quite a surprise. Although it is not a luxury car, still it will look very modern, simple and more quality. The PHEV version will feature upgraded and better materials than the standard model. The seats are covered with finest leather and very comfortable. The cabin offers plenty of space for all the passengers to enjoy the ride. Even the rear passengers have enough legroom.
The dashboard will receive a 7.0-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
