The Audi is preparing to reveal its well-known luxury mid size sedan. It is the upcoming Audi A6 which should also appear with a hybrid powertrain this time. The new 2018 Audi A6 Hybrid should look pretty much the same as the standard version and it should also get the same tech features and interior styling.
The 2018 model year has been caught during its testing at the Nurburgring under the camouflage. What we can conclude is that it is going to bring some mild exterior tweaks, some new tech features and a new platform. Generally, the new Audi A6 will offer great safety systems, good traditional engines and nicely designed and well-equipped interior.
The key rivals of the A6 will be BMW 5-Series, Jaguar XF, Cadillac CTS, Genesis G80 and Mercedes-Benz E Class.
2018 Audi A6 Hybrid engine and performance
Naturally, the 2018 Audi A6 Hybrid will get a hybrid powertrain under its hood. It will most likely be a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TFSI engine combined with an electric motor. The total output is expected to be around 120 horses.
On the other hand, the standard version will get two types of engines under its hood. The base unit will be a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TFSI which will be able to develop 252 horsepower and the torque of 273 pound-feet. The engine will pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. With front-wheel drive, the engine will be mated to a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox. Its top speed will be limited to 130 mph and it will be able to reach 60 mph in 6.7 seconds. The second option will be a 3.0-liter V-6 engine. This one will be able to make 340 horsepower.
Design of exterior and interior
The upcoming 2018 Audi A6 Hybrid will feature the same body styling as the standard version. Its exterior hasn’t changed much for years. But indeed it didn’t have to because it is a still very handsome and good-looking vehicle. It looks very elegant, sleek and attractive. The front end is dominated by the large singleframe trapezoidal grille and a pair of LED headlamps which give it more aggressive appearance. The rear end is also nicely sculpted and it features LED taillights, dual exhaust outlets and more pronounced bumper. It will ride on standard 18-inch wheel while the higher trims will add 20-inch ones.
Inside, the 2018 Audi A6 Hybrid will be able to welcome up to four adults comfortably. The front seats are cozy and spacious and offer plenty of headroom while the legroom might be a problem for taller passengers. The space for the rear occupants is generally good although it might be a bit tight. The rear seats can be folded down too. The dashboard will receive a 7.0-inch LDC display with infotainment system.
As for the equipment, it will come standard with heated front seats, a sunroof, leather upholstery, tri-zone climate control etc. The higher trims will add Bose surround sound system with 14 speakers, four-zone climate control, parking system etc.
Release date and price
The 2018 Audi A6 Hybrid should arrive sometime during next year. As for the price, the standard version should start at around $50,000 while the hybrid should be slightly more expensive.
