The Honda car maker has revealed its plans to upgrade it light truck lineup with a hybrid powertrains. So, this time we are about to see the all new 2018 Honda Pilot Hybrid. Generally, this model is classified as the one of the best crossover SUVs with three-row configuration in its class. It offers excellent cabin space with plenty of cargo space as well. Furthermore, the technology, including safety system too, will be on the highest level. Its general look is elegant and nicely sculpted as well. The standard version has recently been revealed, but for the hybrid version, we will have to wait a bit longer.
The future Pilot hybrid is expected to arrive with almost identical appearance as the standard model. Perhaps and most likely, there will be some small adjustments in order to distinguish from the rest of the lineup. It will probably be the same story for the cabin of the new Honda hybrid so as for the tech features.
Its main rivals will be Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevy Traverse, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer.
2018 Honda Pilot Hybrid drivetrain
The future 2018 Honda Pilot Hybrid will naturally feature a hybrid powertrain under its hood. It is going to be a combination of the traditional engine and an electric motor. However, it is still not said if the Pilot Hybrid will use the same engine used in the standard version which is powered with a 3.5-liter V-6. This unit is able to develop 280 hp and the torque of 262 pound-feet. What is sure is that the hybrid model will show significantly better fuel economy.
Design of exterior and interior
When it comes to the exterior, the 2018 Honda Pilot Hybrid will get pretty much the same styling as the standard model. Its boxy design has been much improved with the 2016 model year when it has gotten softer and rounded lines and more elegant appearance. Generally, the whole body is very-well proportioned. The standard version rides on the 17-inch wheels while the higher trims get larger 20-inch ones.
Inside, the 2018 Honda Pilot Hybrid will also get the same design as the standard Pilot. It offers spacious cabin with three rows of seats and ability to welcome up to eight passengers. The front seats provide great comfort and offer excellent space. However, the second and the third row are also very cozy and can accommodate adults without any discomfort. The dashboard gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The base version comes standard with Bluetooth, an AM/FM audio system, USB, cloth upholstery, air conditioning, a rearview camera and cruise control. The higher trims will add navigation, leather, heated front seats, parking sensors, a Blu-Ray entertainment system and many others more.
Release date and price
The base Pilot has already been revealed to the public. However, the exact release date of the upcoming 2018 Honda Pilot Hybrid is still not known. As for the price, it is expected to be higher than the price of the base model.
