As the 2017 model year, the Nissan X-Trail SUV has undergone numerous upgrades including technology, exterior styling and infotainment features. However, what will be the biggest novelty for the upcoming Nissan is the new hybrid engine under its hood. So, this time we will talk about the upcoming 2018 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid.
The Nissan X-Trail is spacious, cozy and reliable vehicle so it has always been a good choice especially for the large families. The standard version is available with several types of diesel and petrol units. On the other hand, the hybrid version will use a hybrid drivetrain which will combine the same 1.6-liter unit and an electric motor. The cabin should remain the same and we could only see upgraded materials and more equipment options. In the exterior styling, we could only see some mild refreshments but nothing large.
2018 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid engine and performance
The upcoming 2018 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid will have a hybrid powertrain under its hood. This drivetrain will be a combination of a 1.6-liter inline-4 and three electric motors. There will also be a lithium-ion battery. This powertrain will probably be able to develop up to 330 horsepower and the torque of 260 pound-feet. It will pair with a 6-speed CVT.
Besides the hybrid engines, the standard Nissan X-Trail will use traditional engines as well. Those will be two diesel and one petrol unit. The diesel units will include a 1.6-liter with 130 hp and a 2.0-liter which will be able to make 177 horses. The petrol unit will be a 1.6-liter with the output of around 163 hp. There will be a choice between a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
Design of exterior and interior
When it comes to exterior design, the 2018 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid will get the same design as the standard model. Since the current X-Trail should continue with the 2017 model year design, we probably won’t see some significant changes for the 2018 model year too. The front end is dominated by the V-shaped grille and sharp headlamps which will get LED lighting. As well, there will be LED daytime running lights in a shape of boomerang. On the rear, we will notice more muscular bumper, full LED taillights and some interesting chrome details.
The interior of the 2018 Nissan X-Trail Hybrid will be spacious offering five- and seven-seating configuration. The seats, especially the front ones are very supportive and comfortable. The first and the second seats will offer heating function as well. Furthermore, they will be upholstered in quality leather. The 2017 model year has already gotten a revised steering wheel, so this time we are hoping for the larger display on the center of the dashboard. Some of the standard safety equipment will include six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, cruise control, forward collision warning and so on.
Release date and price
It is still not confirmed, but we assume that the 2018 Nissan X-trail Hybrid won’t go on sale before the middle of 2018. As for the price, some sources claim that it could start at roughly $36,000.
