The Honda latest small crossover SUV is soon going to hit the world’s market with only a few changes. It is the new HR-V model which represents one of the most economical models with great gas mileage and solid ride in the brand’s lineup. Besides the standard version which is expected to arrive is several trim levels: LX, EX and EX-L, the new HR-V should also offer a hybrid version. So, if the latest rumors appear to be true, we are soon hoping to see the all new 2018 Honda HR-V Hybrid.
The upcoming HR-V Hybrid is expected to get the same design, styling and changes as the standard 2018 model year. Naturally, it will feature a hybrid engine while the all HR-V will feature the same traditional unit. For the 2018 model year, the only novelties will include the new exterior color and new design of the wheels on the EX and EX-L trim levels. The key competitors of the HR-V will include Chevy Trax, Mazda CX-3, Toyota C-HR and Jeep Renegade.
2018 Honda HR-V Hybrid engine and performance
According to the latest rumors, the 2018 Honda HR-V Hybrid is expected to receive a hybrid unit under its hood. It is very likely that it is going to be a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine combined with an electric motor. This unit is expected to get more than 40 mpg combined. However, any precise information about the hybrid drivetrain is not available.
On the other hand, the standard Honda will be powered with a 1.8-liter inline-4 engine. This unit will be able to make 141 horses and the torque of 127 pound-feet. This engine will pair with a 6-speed manual while a continuously variable transmission will be in offer too. It will arrive with front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. It will be able to hit 60 mph in around 10 seconds.
Design of exterior and interior
When it comes to exterior design, the 2018 Honda HR-V Hybrid should feature the same design as the standard version. This means that it could only receive some mild changes. The 2017 model has gotten a new exterior color-Aegean Blue Metallic and the new dark-colored design of the wheels on higher trims. However, the changes for the 2018 model year could include some small revisions on the front end, including headlamps and grille.
When it comes to interior, the 2018 Honda HR-V Hybrid will provide sufficiently spacious and comfortable cabin. The front passengers will have cozy and supportive seats with plenty of head and knee room. The rear seats can place up to three occupants, but it is more suitable for two. The dashboard will feature a 5.0-inch touchscreen with audio system, USB port and Bluetooth. A rearview camera, 17-inch wheels and cruise control will be standard. The higher trim adds keyless ignition, second USB, automatic climate control, 7.0-inch touchscreen, a sunroof, heated front seats and so on.
Release date and price
It is still known officially confirmed when the 2018 Honda HR-V Hybrid will hit the market. As for the price, it is expected to be slightly higher than the price of the standard model.
