2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid: Review, MPG, Colors

If you are looking for a compact crossover SUV with sufficiently spacious cabin, plenty of safety features and a strong engine under its hood, then you don’t have to look more. We are talking about the new 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Of course, this morel will also offer a traditional engine too; it will arrive in several trim levels which will differ in equipment. Those will include LE, SE, Adventure, XLE, Limited and Platinum trim levels. However, the hybrid version will be available in LE, XLE, SE and Limited trim levels.

Besides the qualities mentioned above, the RAV4 Hybrid will provide excellent fuel efficiency too. For the 2018 model year, the upcoming Toyota won’t bring many upgrades since it is still good-looking, quality and very well equipped model. So, this time, it is expected to arrive with a new exterior color and more optional features in higher trims.

The main rivals of the new RAV4 will be Chevy Equinox, Kia Niro, Nissan Rogue Hybrid and GMC Terrain.

The 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will be powered with a hybrid unit under its hood. It will be a combination of a 2.5-liter inline-4 and three electric motors which will power the rear wheels. There will also be a nickel metal hydride battery. The total output of this unit will be 194 horses and it will pair with a continuously variable transmission.  The all-wheel drive system will be standard. As for the fuel economy, it gets 34 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway and 32 mpg combined which makes it the greenest in the lineup.

On the other hand, the standard version will arrive with a 2.5-liter inline-4 which will be able to make 176 horses. This unit will pair with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It is rated t 23 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway and 26 mpg combined.

Design of exterior and interior

When it comes to exterior, the 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will arrive pretty much unchanged. The current model has been refreshed in 2015 and since then, it hasn’t undergone any significant changes.

As for the interior, the 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid offers sufficiently spacious cabin and it is able to accommodate five passengers. The quality of the cabin is also pretty good and there are many modern tech features. Unlike its main competition, there is no third row; although once it used to offer one that for suitable for children. The dashboard features a 6.1-inch touchscreen with infotainment system while the higher trims will be offered with a larger 7.0-inch touchscreen.

Some of the standard equipment includes Bluetooth, USB, power windows and locks, a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlamps and forward-collision warning. The higher trims will add a moonroof, blind-spot monitors, navigation, automatic climate control, keyless ignition, parking sensors, rear-cross-traffic alert and so on.

Release date and price

The 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid should arrive later this year. The starting price of the hybrid version will be around $27,150.
