The Honda CR-V is one of the brand’s best-selling compact crossover SUVs which also represent its first electrified crossover. The hybrid version of this was model firstly presented to the world at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show and the sales are limited to the Chinese market only. However, we assume that the production of the hybrid CR-V will also be expanded for the other markets. So, the 2018 Honda CR-V has already been launched, but the carmaker is also planning to reveal the newest version which will be presented as the 2019 Honda CR-V Hybrid.
The hybrid version should be pretty much the same as the current model which was majorly overhauled as the 2017 model year. So, this time, we don’t expect any large upgrades. As well, the hybrid CT-V will be even more fuel efficient than the standard model which is particularly important. Besides that, it offers very good safety equipment, cozy and well-equipped cabin and good handling.
2019 Honda CR-V Hybrid engine and performance
Under the hood of the 2019 Honda CR-V Hybrid will be placed a hybrid powertrain. It will most likely be a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline unit combined with an electric motor and a battery. However, the exact performance and output of this engine are still not known but it will definitively be more fuel efficient than the traditional engines which are used in the standard CR-V.
The base engine will be a 1.5-liter turbo which has the output of 190 horses and 179 pound-feet of torque. The next option is going to be a 2.4-liter inline-4. This one will be able to develop 184 horsepower and the torque of 180 pound-feet. The engines will pair with a continuously variable transmission. It will be available with front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.
Design of exterior and interior
When it comes to exterior design, the upcoming 2019 Honda CR-V hybrid should get the same styling as the standard version. Generally, the Honda CR-V looks very attractive, muscular and more aggressive because of the new design of the wheels. It will ride on the standard 17-inch alloy wheels.
Speaking of the interior, the 2019 Honda CR-V Hybrid will feature a sufficiently spacious cabin; and will be available to welcome up to five passengers in two rows of seats. The seats are covered in a standard fabric while the leather upholstery will also be available. The dashboard will feature a 5.0-inch color display with an audio system. However, the higher trims will get a larger 7.0-inch screen with the infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
As for the equipment, it will come standard with automatic climate control, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, audio system with four speakers, cruise control and so on. The higher trims will add heated front seats, keyless ignition, a power moonroof, satellite radio, an extra USB and many other more.
Release date and price
The Japanese manufacturer still hasn’t revealed when the 2019 Honda CR-V Hybrid will enter the showrooms. We assume that it won’t be before the end of 2018. As for the price, we will have to wait for the Company’s official announcement to find out more.
