Lately, all the leading carmakers are also offering hybrid versions of their popular models and sometimes it is difficult to decide which one to choose. However, if you are looking for a midsize sedan with a more fuel-efficient engine and handsome exterior and interior design, the newest 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid could be a great choice.
The current 2018 Fusion Hybrid is six years old and it has arrived pretty much identical to the 2017 model, perhaps with only a few minor changes. But despite that, the Ford Fusion Hybrid is still a good looking vehicle which offers quality and a nicely designed cabin with the upgraded infotainment system and more modern safety features. However, when we compare it to its key rivals, its fuel economy is not that great. As well, the sleek roofline makes the rear-seats space a bit tight because of the lack of headroom. On the other hand, the Fusion is also available with a plug-in hybrid unit under its hood. As well, it is offered in four trim levels. Those include the base S, SE, Titanium and the top-ranging Platinum.
Its main rivals on the market are Chevy Malibu, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima Hybrid, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord Sedan.
2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid engine and performance
The 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid will most likely use the same engine as the current model. It is a 2.0-liter inline-4 and a two-motor hybrid system and a lithium-ion battery of 1.4 kWh which is placed in the trunk. This engine pairs with a continuously variable transmission. It is able to make 188 horses and 177 pound-feet of torque. As for the fuel economy, it gets 43 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway.
Furthermore, the Energy plug-in hybrid model will use the same engine and a lithium-ion battery of 7.6 kWh. This one will provide an all-electric range of around 22 miles. This unit is rated at 42 mpg and 97 MPGe.
Design of exterior and interior
The Ford Fusion Hybrid features an attractive styling with racy profile and sleek roofline. The front end is dominated by the large chrome grille and slim headlamps. The headlamps and fog lights too will be available with LED lighting. It will ride on standard 17-inch silver-painted aluminum while the larger 18-inch alloys will be available also. However, the upcoming 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid might get some visual changes this time.
Inside, the 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid will be able to welcome up to five passengers. However, the front seats will be more comfortable than the rear ones. Generally, the cabin is quiet even at high speeds and very pleasant. The seats are covered in fabric while the leather upholstery will be available also. As for the safety, it will come standard with eight airbags, anti-lock brakes, a rearview camera, stability and traction control, a tire pressure monitoring system and so on. The heated leather seats and an upgraded Sync 3 audio system will be optional.
Release date and price
We still don’t have information about the arrival of the new 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Speaking of the price, it will most likely stay close to the one of the current model which starts at around $25,300.
