The Nissan’s flagship sedan is once again set for some small but noticeable changes. It is the new Maxima model which could be a great choice for those who are looking for a full-size sedan which is priced at less than $35,000. However, if the latest speculations are true, the carmaker is also preparing a hybrid version of its popular sedan which should enter the market as the 2019 Nissan Maxima Hybrid.
The Maxima model is an attractive vehicle which comes with roomy interior equipped with many modern features. The safety scores are also on the high level. However, although it is a large sedan, its interior is not that spacious compared to its main rivals. The 2016 model year has been fully refreshed and the 2018 Maxima has arrived with the same styling but only some small upgrades. Those included Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity which is now standard on all trims, and two USB ports for the rear seats which will be offered in SL, SR and Platinum trims. As well, there is a new exterior color: Carnelian Red. On the other hand, the 2019 model should arrive with a hybrid engine as well and it will most likely arrive with the same styling as the current model.
2019 Nissan Maxima Hybrid engine and performance
The standard Maxima will be available with one single engine option under its hood. It is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which will be able to make 300 horses and 261 pound-feet of torque. It will pair with a continuously variable transmission and the front-wheel drive system will be standard. The newest 2019 Nissan Maxima Hybrid should receive a hybrid unit as well. Unfortunately, the carmaker hasn’t revealed any precise information, but we assume that it might be the same engine combined with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. Of course, this unit should provide better fuel efficiency and performance.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Nissan Maxima Hybrid should feature the same design as the current model. It will look very attractive with its athletic styling with many lines, especially on the sides. The front end is dominated by the V-Motion grille which now features more black accents. On the rear, there will be nicely sculpted taillights and twin chrome exhaust pipes. The base model will ride on the 18-inch wheels while the larger 19-inch alloys will be available also.
The interior of the 2019 Nissan Maxima Hybrid is sufficiently spacious but considering its size, it is a bit tight. It is able to accommodate up to five passengers. The front seats are wide and cozy while the rear ones are a bit crowded. They are covered in cloth while the higher trims will get leather upholstery. The dashboard will feature an 8.0-inch touchscreen with navigation and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The standard equipment will include dual-zone climate control, a rearview camera, power front seats, six airbags, stability control, automatic emergency braking, anti-lock brakes and forward-collision warning. The higher trims will add blind-spot monitors, Bose audio with 11 speakers, a panoramic moonroof, more USB ports, active noise cancellation, and so on.
Release date and price
The official release date of the 2019 Nissan Maxima Hybrid is still unavailable. Its price will most likely be slightly higher than the price of the standard version.
