This time, we will talk about the Lexus’s smallest crossover SUV which shows one of the best ratings in its class considering fuel economy, especially with a hybrid powertrain under its hood. It is the Lexus NX model which has just been presented as the 2018 model year. However, some sources claim that we are about to see the newer version of this model too. And it is the 2019 Lexus NX Hybrid. Naturally, besides the hybrid model, the NX will also be available with traditional units and those are NX 300, NX 300F Sport while the hybrid will be named as the NX 300h hybrid.
The NX will attract with its unique and very modern styling, excellent hybrid fuel efficiency and luxurious and comfortable cabin. The 2018 model year has arrived with several noticeable changes. Those included more aggressive front fascia styling, upgraded optional 10.3-inch touchscreen, and a foot-activated rear liftgate. As well, the NX has also gotten the Lexus Safety System + as the standard equipment. This system adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, auto high beams, and lane-departure warning.
The main rivals of the Lexus NX will be Acura RDX, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Class.
2019 Lexus NX Hybrid engine and performance
The newest 2019 Lexus NX Hybrid will get the same engine as the current model. It is a 2.5-liter inline-4 with the output of 154 hp and 152 pound-feet of torque combined with a two-motor hybrid system. This unit will be available to make 194 horsepower. The engine will pair with a continuously variable transmission. It will come with all-wheel drive system as standard. As for the fuel economy, it gets 33 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
Design of exterior and interior
When it comes to exterior, the 2019 Lexus NX Hybrid will most likely continue with the same styling as the current model. The NX has been slightly refreshed as the 2018 model year when it has gotten more aggressive styling of the front fascia. The first thing we will notice is its large spindle grille and narrow and angular LED headlamps. The rear end gets slightly thinner taillights and a revised bumper. As well, it has also gotten a new design of the wheels. It will ride on standard 17-inch alloy wheels.
The interior of the 2019 Lexus NX Hybrid will be very cozy, quiet and nicely designed as before. It is made of premium materials for more luxurious appearance. It is able to welcome up to five passengers in two rows of seats. The front seats are multi-adjustable, comfortable and very supportive. The second row of seats can be folded down which provides the total cargo space of 54.6 cubic feet. The dashboard will feature a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen while the larger 10.3-inch display will also be available. Unfortunately, the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay won’t be in the offer once again.
As for the equipment, it will come standard with power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, infotainment controls on the steering wheel and automatic headlamps. Furthermore, there will be two optional packages. The Comfort package will add heated and ventilated front seats, blind-spot alert, rear cross-traffic monitoring and electrochromic mirrors. The Luxury package will include leather upholstery, interior wood trim, blind-spot warning and a power liftgate.
Release date and price
The release date of the 2019 Lexus NX Hybrid is still not confirmed. As for the price, it will most likely be similar to the one of the current model which starts at roughly $38,500.
