2019 Honda Civic Hybrid: Refresh, Engine, Release Date

For all those who need a spacious, fuel efficient and great for everyday city drive vehicle, then you might consider the Honda Civic. This compact car is available in several variants which include coupe, sedan, and hatchback. The manufacturer has already released the 2018 model year, but according to the latest news, they are also planning the newest 2019 Civic. Furthermore, there is another novelty, and if the rumors are true, the carmaker will finally fit it with a hybrid powertrain. So, this time, we are talking about the all-new 2019 Honda Civic Hybrid.

The Honda Civic is an attractive and handsome vehicle which considering its dimensions offers roomy cabin and many modern tech features. The safety is also on the high level. Depending on a trim level, it is available with several types of engines but this time we should also see it with a hybrid drivetrain under its hood. The 2018 model year has arrived pretty much unchanged, and we assume that it will be the same with the 2019 Civic expect the engine.

Its main competitors on the market will be Volkswagen Golf, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus and Chevy Cruze.

The newest 2019 Honda Civic Hybrid should finally feature a hybrid engine under its hood. Although it is not yet confirmed and there is still no official information, we assume that it will combine a 2.0-liter inline-4 with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. The total output of this unit is still unknown but it will definitively be even more fuel efficient.

Of course, the standard version will feature a 2.0-liter inline-4 which will be able to produce 158 horses and 138 pound-feet of torque. There will also be a 1.5-liter inline-4 turbo engine. Depending on a trim level and body style, this one will have the output of 180 hp and 167 pound-feet of torque, in the best case. The engines will pair with either 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Design of exterior and interior

Speaking of the exterior design, the upcoming 2019 Honda Civic Hybrid shouldn’t differ much from the standard version except some small details characteristics for the hybrids such as badging. Its exterior is sharp, modern and very handsome. The front fascia looks a bit aggressive and the rear end is dominated by the unique C-shaped taillights.

When it comes to exterior, the 2019 Honda Civic Hybrid will be spacious enough to welcome four adults comfortably. However, there would also be a place for the fifth passenger. All the models will offer split-folding rear seats if you need more cargo space. The dashboard will feature a 5.0-inch touchscreen with infotainment system while the higher trims will include a larger 7.0-inch display.

As for the equipment, it will come standard with automatic climate control, Bluetooth, USB, audio with four speakers, automatic headlights etc. As for the safety, all models offer airbags, a rearview camera, traction and safety control systems, and child-seat anchors. The higher trims will add leather upholstery, keyless ignition, blind-spot cameras, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

We still don’t know when the 2019 Honda Civic Hybrid will enter the showrooms. Its price should be higher than the price of the current model.
