The Hyundai Sonata is one of the brand’s best selling compact sedans in the United States. It is now in its seventh generation and the 2018 model year has gotten a mild redesign which included changes in the exterior styling and inside the cabin. The newest 2019 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will feature the same hybrid engine which was firstly introduced in 2018 model year. It is a combination of a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor. The traditional unit is able to make 154 hp and 140 pound-feet of torque while an electric motor is rated at 51 horses and the torque of 151 pound-feet. All together, they will be able to make 193 horsepower. This unit should pair with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. As for the fuel economy, it is rated at 38 mpg in the city, 43 mpg on the highway and 40 mpg combined.

On the other hand, the standard version will arrive with the same traditional engines. The one is a 2.4-liter inline-4 with the output of 185 hp and the torque of 178 pound-feet. The other one is a 2.0-liter turbo-4 which is able to make 245 horses and 260 pound-feet of torque.

Design of exterior and interior

When it comes to exterior, the 2019 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will continue with the same design as the 2018 Sonata which has been lightly refreshed. It has received new headlamps, revised hood, and the new design of the grille. There are also new taillights and three new wheel designs. It rides on standard 16-inch alloy wheels.

When it comes to interior, the 2019 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will feature comfortable, practical and well-equipped cabin. The dashboard will be slightly revised and it will feature a 7.0-inch touchscreen with the infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. As for the equipment, it will come standard with power windows and locks, Bluetooth, audio system with six speakers, air conditioning, keyless ignition, automatic headlamps and so on. The higher trim levels will add adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, automatic emergency braking, leather-wrapped steering wheel and many other more.

Release date and price

The official release date of the 2019 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is not yet confirmed. Its price should be slightly higher than the price of the base model, but there shouldn’t be large any changes.
