One of the Volkswagen’s best-selling hatchbacks is once again set for some interesting upgrades. It is the Golf 8 which will now enter its eight generation and will hit the market as the 2019 VW Golf 8. However, here, we will limit our talk about a hybrid version of this model which will enter the showrooms as the 2019 VW Golf 8 Hybrid.
Generally, the Volkswagen Golf is a good choice for every city day drive; and because of its dimensions, it is easy to park and maneuver. Its styling is conventional, the interior is sufficiently roomy and a cargo space is good for a vehicle of this size. The price is rather reasonable and it is available in several trim levels. Under the hood, it offers several types of engines including a hybrid too.
The newest VW Golf has been previewed in the image which company has presented and based on that photo we can see that the carmaker will keep its well-known shape. However this time we can expect other changes such as revised platform, refreshed exterior and interior so as the upgraded technology. Under the hood, it will keep the traditional petrol and diesel engines and a hybrid unit too.
Its main competitors on the market will be Chevy Cruze, Ford Focus, Kia Forte, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra and Mazda3.
2019 VW Golf 8 Hybrid engine and performance
The all-new 2019 VW Golf 8 Hybrid will get a hybrid engine under its hood. It will be the brand’s first vehicle to adopt a mild hybrid technology; or precisely a 48-volt electric system and integrated starter motor. Unfortunately, there aren’t any further details and information, and we will know more after the company’s official announcement.
On the other hand, besides the hybrid drivetrain, the Golf will also offer well-known traditional units. The one will be the new 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The second will replace the current 1.6-liter unit and it is a 1.5-liter diesel engine.
Platform, exterior, and interior design
The upcoming 2019 VW Golf 8 Hybrid will ride on a revised version of the MQB architecture. It will arrive with reduced weight for around 150 pounds because of the usage of lighter materials. This will, of course, improve general performance of the vehicle and fuel efficiency.
Speaking of the exterior design, the general shape of the 2019 VW Golf 8 Hybrid won’t be drastically changed. The front fascia will look more handsome and sleek with slightly revised hood and restyled angular headlamps which will feature LED lighting. The rear end will get a more squarish shape and there should be revised taillights.
Inside the cabin, the 2019 VW Golf 8 Hybrid should be more modern with latest tech features and equipment. The dashboard will feature a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen while the larger 8.0-inch screen should be optional. The Android Auto and Apple CarPlay should be available even in the base trim so as navigation, keyless entry/start and so on.
Release date and price
The 2019 VW Golf 8 Hybrid should be presented to the world at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Its price is still unknown.
