2019 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid: Rumors, Design, Powertrain

The Honda’s current pickup truck and SUV lineup consist of smaller crossovers CR-V and HR-V, Pilot SUV, Odyssey minivan and the Ridgeline pickup. According to the latest news, the Company is planning to electrify these models by the year or two from now. So, besides the traditional engines, these models will be available with hybrid powertrains which will definitively be more fuel efficient but also pricier. Here, we will say a few words about the upcoming 2019 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid.

The Ridgeline pickup truck should be on your list if you need a vehicle which has great towing capacities of up to 500 pounds but at the same time, a comfortable car which offers refined interior. In addition to this, it also comes with a truck bed and compared to its main competitors, its cabin is luxurious and well-equipped. The Honda Ridgeline is relatively fresh; it has been fully revised as the 2017 model year and the 2018 Ridgeline has only been refreshed with a few new exterior colors which are available in the Sport version. On the other hand, the newest 2019 Ridgeline should bring a major upgrade and it is the new hybrid engine. However, considering external appearance and design of the cabin, we expect no changes.

The 2019 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid should arrive with a hybrid engine for the first time. However, the manufacturer hasn’t revealed any information about the engine which will power the hybrid version of this model. The current Honda Accord Hybrid is fitted with a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder unit and two electric motors which all together can deliver 212 hp. So, perhaps the future Ridgeline could get this same engine.

On the other hand, the standard version uses a 3.5-liter V-6 engine. It is able to produce 280 horses and 262 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Furthermore, it is available with front-wheel and all-wheel drive systems. With FWD, it gets 19/26 mpg. With all-wheel drive, it is rated at 18/25 mpg in the city/highway drive.
