The entry model of the Lincoln SUV lineup is ready for some small but noticeable upgrades. We are talking about the small SUV called MKC which besides these minor upgrades should also bring an important one. For the first time, the carmaker has announced a plug-in hybrid version of this model. In addition to this model, the Company will also electrify the Escape model. However, we will talk about the new 2019 Lincoln MKC Plug-In Hybrid model.
The upcoming Lincoln MKC Plug-In Hybrid won’t visually differ from the standard version. The 2019 model year has finally been refreshed with the new design of the front fascia. The upgrades inside the cabin will be generally minor but carmaker will offer more quality materials in the Black Label trim. However, what is important is that the new Lincoln will get more standard equipment now and there will be more safety features available. Under the hood, besides the new plug-in hybrid, the standard version will continue with the same engines as before.
2019 Lincoln MKC Plug-in Hybrid engine and performance
The new 2019 Lincoln MKC Plug-in Hybrid model will finally arrive with an electrified engine under its hood. Unfortunately, the manufacturer hasn’t revealed any further information and for more data, we will have to wait a little bit longer.
On the other hand, the standard model will be available with two engines. The base is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which will have the output of 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. The next option will be a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder turbo powertrain. This one will be able to deliver 285 horses and the torque of 305 pound-feet. Both units will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel drive system will be optional.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Lincoln MKC Plug-In Hybrid will feature the same changes as the standard version. It has gotten the new design of the front fascia which now looks more modern and handsome. It is dominated by the new rectangular grille with more chrome accents and slightly restyled headlamps. They are equipped with quality LED lighting. The changes on the front fascia aren’t that dramatic and it features more chrome details as well.
The cabin of the upcoming 2019 Lincoln MKC Plug-In Hybrid is sufficiently spacious, especially for the front passengers. However, the rear-seat occupants might feel a bit tight. The base model comes with synthetic leather and cloth upholstery while the range-topping Black Label will feature real leather upholstery.
The dashboard will feature an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Sync 3 and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity as standard. Among other standard equipment, there will be keyless ignition, dual-zone climate control, remote start, heated seats, power liftgate, a rearview camera, audio system with 9 speakers and so on. The higher trims will add navigation, a dual-pane sunroof, wood interior accents, blind-spot monitors, heated and cooled seats. As for the safety, it will include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic etc.
