2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid: Powertrain, Design, Release Date

One of the most popular family-oriented crossover SUVs, the Honda Pilot, is in its third generation and the carmaker has decided to give it a minor facelift in order to keep it competitive and fresh. So, at some point in future, we are hoping to see the all-new Honda Pilot. However, in addition to the standard model, the carmaker will introduce a hybrid engine under its hood which will go on sale as the 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid.

The Honda Pilot SUV can also be considered as a minivan because of its ample cabin, excellent safety ratings and rounded styling except it doesn’t feature sliding doors. The interior is also well-organized and functional and there is plenty of cargo space too. It delivers a great driving experience, nimble handling and solid fuel efficiency with the standard V-6 unit. However, with the expected hybrid engine, the fuel economy will be much improved. The 2019 model year has been spied under the heavy camouflage. And at first sight, it is difficult to notice what are the changes which we can expect. However, when we take a closer look, we can conclude that the Pilot will arrive with slightly revised front fascia and some minor upgrades on the rear. As for the interior, it is too early to discuss but we assume that there could be some small adjustments.

2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid engine and performance

If the latest rumors are to be believed, the 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid should use the same engine as the upcoming Accord Hybrid. This powertrain combines a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine, two electric motors, and a battery. Unfortunately, the exact performance of this unit is still not revealed.

On the other hand, the standard version will use the same 3.5-liter V-6 engine. This unit is able to make 280 horses and 262 lb-ft of torque. It will be mated to either a 6-speed automatic or a 9-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, there will be a choice between the front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.

External appearance and design of the cabin

We have already spied the camouflaged 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid. And what we can conclude from the instant is that it will feature a revamped front fascia. Those changes will include a slightly revised grille and the new design of the headlamps. As well, there should be some modifications on the rear with the new taillights and perhaps new wheels designs.

As for the interior of the newest 2019 Honda Pilot Hybrid, we could see some minor improvements but there aren’t any official data. What we can say for sure is that will continue with the same three-row seating configuration with cloth upholstery. The cabin will be comfortable and practical as before and will offer excellent cargo room.

The standard equipment of Pilot will include a 5.0-inch touchscreen, cruise control, air conditioning, power features, an AM/FM audio system, USB, Bluetooth and so on. Moving to the higher trims, there will be additional USB ports, three-zone climate control, satellite radio, parking sensors, navigation, a Blu-Ray entertainment system etc.
