2019 Lexus UX 250h: Specs, Release Date, Design

The Lexus UX Concept has been presented at the 2016 Paris Auto Show and the carmaker has finally presented the production version of this model. It is the all-new 2019 Lexus UX which will be unveiled at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show this March. Besides the standard version, the carmaker will also offer a hybrid version and this time we will talk about the newest 2019 Lexus UX 250h.

The Lexus UX is a luxury compact crossover SUV which stands under the NX considering the size and price. The carmaker has shown one teaser photo of the upcoming Lexus UX which shows several details. Those are the prominent LED taillights and roof rails. Under the hood, there will be two engines in the offer among which one will be a hybrid and most likely the same one which powers the Lexus NX 300h. As for the interior, there aren’t any official photos and we aren’t sure if it will look like the cabin of the Concept model. However, we are hoping that it will get a revised infotainment system. The key competitors of the new UX model will be Audi Q3, Lincoln MKC, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and BMW X1.

Powertrain and performance of the 2019 Lexus UX 250h

Under the hood of the 2019 Lexus UX 250h will be found a hybrid engine, most likely the same one which powers the NX 300h model. It is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor. The total output of this unit will be 194 horses. The engine will pair with a continuously variable transmission. The all-wheel drive system will be standard; the engine will send power to the front wheels while an electric motor will power the rear wheels.

On the other hand, the standard version will probably use a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. This unit is able to produce 235 horses and the torque of 258 pound-feet. It will work with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and the front-wheel drive system will be standard.

Exterior design and interior

When it comes to exterior, the 2019 Lexus UX 250h will share the same underpinnings as the Toyota C-HR and dimensionally, it will be smaller than the current NX model. Its design will be characterized by the aggressive and distinctive look. It will be based on the UX Concept, but we expect less dramatic design but which will still be very handsome and attractive. The carmaker has revealed the photo where is shown the rear end of the vehicle. From the instant, we can notice prominent LED taillights, roof rails, and a spoiler.

As for the interior, the 2019 Lexus UX 250h will feature a two-row seating configuration; and will be able to accommodate five passengers. There isn’t any information whether the new UX will get the same design as the Concept model, but we sincerely doubt it. However, we are hoping to see the upgraded touchscreen with the infotainment system. Furthermore, the heated and vented seats so as a Mark Levinson sound system will probably be optional. Unfortunately, the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay most likely won’t be offered.
