The Chevy Bolt’s, Nissan Leaf’s, Volkswagen e-Golf’s, and Hyundai Ioniq Electric’s main competitors is announced for a new-generation model. It is the brand-new 2019 Ford Focus Electric. The Ford Focus is a five-door compact hatchback, which is also available with a hybrid unit. Generally, it is a handsome small car, however, it design is started to be a bit outdated. But, this isn’t necessarily its disadvantage since it is still a good looking and attractive. This model is already seven years old and according to the newest reports, the carmaker is working on the newest version which we will see as the 2019 Ford Focus Electric. And this newest version is expected to be the next generation model.
The standard version of the Ford Focus has been spotted wearing no camouflage and based on these photos we could see that it has finally gotten eagerly expected redesign. As well, it should ride on a new platform which will offer more powertrain options. The electric version should also provide more power and longer electric range. Because of the new architecture, we expect more space inside the cabin and therefore more comfort for all the passengers.
2019 Ford Focus Electric engine and performance
The newest 2019 Ford Focus Electric will most likely feature a stronger powertrain with improved all-electric range. However, the carmaker still hasn’t revealed any specific details. Some sources say that the new Focus will get a stronger battery of 50 kWh. The current version is powered by an electric motor of 107 kWh which has the output of 143 horses. There is also a lithium-ion battery of 34 kWh which can provide the range of 115 miles.
Platform, exterior, and interior design
The all-new 2019 Ford Focus Electric is expected to be underpinned by the new platform. It will no longer ride on the C platform but instead, it should be switched to the C2 architecture. This platform will also provide more option under its hood and will be slightly longer. This will improve interior space but also will make the new Ford Focus a bit lighter than before.
As for the exterior, the Ford Focus should get some changes which will include restyled headlamps and fog lights which will now be equipped with LED lighting. The rear end of the vehicle should also feature some new styling tweaks.
Moving to the interior, the 2019 Ford Focus Electric will be able to welcome up to five passengers. The front seats are comfortable but the rear ones are a bit tight. However, because of the new and slightly larger platform, space should be a bit roomier now. The dashboard is fitted with a touchscreen with the latest version of My Ford infotainment system. The standard equipment hasn’t changed for years and it includes climate control, audio system with 9 speakers, Bluetooth, USB, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Sirius XM Radio and so on.
Release date and price
The new 2019 Ford Focus Electric should arrive sometime in the middle of 2019. The pricing is not yet revealed.
