The Japanese compact crossover SUV, the RAV4 model is still reputed as one of the brand’s best-selling vehicles worldwide in its class. And it shouldn’t surprise us since it has so much to offer for that price. It looks good, it has roomy and nicely designed cabin; it offers several trims to choose from and plenty of safety features. As well, for those you are looking for better fuel economy, the RAV4 is also available with a strong hybrid engine. This model is offered in several variants and those include LE, SE, Adventure, XLE, Limited, and Platinum trim levels. And there is a choice between all-wheel and front-wheel drive configurations. However, the hybrid version only comes in sporty SE and Limited trim levels and with all-wheel drive as standard. This time, we shall talk about the newest 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.
The 2019 model year will represent the fifth generation of this model so we can expect many upgrades. Visually, it should get some important upgrades in the exterior styling. As well, the new RAV4 should now ride on the new platform which underpins Prius, C-HR, and Camry models. Furthermore, the safety department will be much improved with more safety systems. The cabin will be refined with more quality materials and advanced equipment. Speaking of the engine, the RAV4 should now arrive with two hybrid engines in the offer.
Engine and performance of the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
The newest 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will keep the same engine as the previous version. However, it could also arrive with one hybrid option more. The base is a familiar 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine combined with three electric motors which send power to the rear wheels and give an extra 67 horses. The total output of this unit is 194 horses and 206 pound-feet of torque. This engine works with a continuously variable transmission. This engine gets 34 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Furthermore, it is said that the RAV4 will offer one more hybrid engine, but it is still not revealed which one it is going to be.
Design of exterior and interior
The 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will ride on the modular Toyota New Global Architecture which is also used in Avalon, Camry, Prius, and C-HR models. Thanks to this new platform, the new RAV4 will provide better and sharper handling and cozier ride for all the passengers. As for the exterior design, the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid will get more rugged and square appearance. Furthermore, it will get new two-bar grille design, restyled fog lights and lower air intake.
