The Cadillac’s full-size flagship sedan, the CT6 has been upgraded with a plug-in version of this model in 2017. The 2018 version has added the more safety equipment and a few more exterior colors. However, the 2019 model year will now get a mid-cycle refresh. It has gotten more upgrades which included refreshed exterior styling, new stronger V-8 engine, and more equipment. However, this time we will mainly focus on the plug-in hybrid version which will enter the market as the 2019 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid.
The Cadillac CT6 has always looked very attractive and with refreshed styling, it is going to be even more handsome. Inside the cabin, the CT6 provides great comfort, luxury, and latest tech equipment. Under the hood, it is available with several engines. However, for the 2019 model year, there will be some changes. So, the new Cadillac will now receive a new V-8 twin-turbocharged unit which will be able to make 550 horses. Furthermore, the plug-in hybrid engine will provide an all-electric range of up to 31 miles. As well, it will be available in several trim levels and those are the base, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum.
Engine and performance of the 2019 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid
The 2019 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid will receive the same engine as the outgoing model. It is a plug-in hybrid which pairs a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery of 17.6 kWh which is placed behind the rear seat. Its all-electric range is rated at 31 miles. The total output of this unit is 335 horsepower. As for the fuel economy, it gets 25 mpg combined and 62MPGe.
On the other hand, the standard version will offer three more options. The base is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, a 3.0-liter V-6 twin-turbocharged, and the newest 4.2-liter V-8 twin turbo engine. The last one will be able to deliver up to 550 horses. The engines will pair with an 8-speed automatic but it could also get a new 10-speed automatic transmission.
Design of exterior and interior
The upcoming 2019 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid will receive a mid-cycle refresh. Both front and rear fascias will get some new styling tweaks. The front end will get a restyled grille which is going to be wider and thinner and the new, slimmer and more horizontal headlamps. And they will be equipped with LED lighting. On the rear end, we will notice new taillights which will feature a more traditional appearance and will be more vertical. As well, the whole rear fascia will look narrower than before.
The cabin of the 2019 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid shouldn’t change much from the current which is very cozy, elegant and well-equipped. The safety will be on the highest level as always. And some of the features will include a surround-view camera, automatic emergency braking, active lane control, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitors and so on. The new Cadillac will also add hand’s free super cruise self-driving system and the upgraded CUE infotainment system.
Release date and price
The 2019 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In Hybrid should arrive at the end of 2018. The pricing is not yet revealed.
